NEW DELHI: It is reported that Badminton sensation Saina Nehwal is likely to get married by the end of the year to Arjuna awardee Parupalli Kashyap.


Hindustan Times reported “Both families had been planning the wedding for a while. They have now finalised the date.”

Saina Nehwal is the only Indian to have won at least a medal in every BWF major individual event, namely the Olympics, the BWF World Championships, and the BWF World Junior Championships. She is the first Indian badminton player to have won an Olympic medal. Saina has been one of the best in the women’s circuit and is currently playing in the Korea Open.

While 32-year-old Kashyap hails from Hyderabad and was awarded the Arjuna Award by Government of India in 2012. He won the gold medal in men's singles at the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games.

Saina had earlier spoken about Kashyap’s role in motivating her after she won the Commonwealth Games singles gold in Gold Coast.

The report further says that the marriage will take place on December 16, attended by about 100 people. It is also said that a grand reception is expected to take place on December 21.



The two badminton players have been training under Pullela Gopichand since 2005 and it is said that they have been dating for the past decade.
